The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah has stated that, his Developmental Agenda for the region is still in focus, receiving the necessary impetus to unlock the investment potentials to create wealth and job opportunities for teeming youth.
He explained that, the “Enterprise Western Region, Entrepreneurial Governance, Sustainable Development Goals ‘SDGs’ and Youth Empowerment”, which are the main pillars and cornerstone of his development agenda would be pursued with enthusiasm and vigour to achieve its intended outcome.
The minister continued that, he sees Western Region becoming a robust and resilient financial ecosystem and hub that provides unmatched financial services to meet the needs of the business community.
“This will strategically reposition the Region to take advantage of the enormous benefits that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCTA), headquartered in Accra, bring to Ghana and the West African Sub-region”, he added.
“To concretize the vision of mainstreaming the youth in the “SDGs”, the Region will host Western Regional Youth Summit in October, where captains of industry will address the youth on entrepreneurship, take them through hands-on training programmes that will equip them to become masters on their own in areas.”
The training which has been grouped in zonal would be focused on 3D Epoxy, Beads and Honey making, Mushroom, Snail rearing among others. The first event will have 6 zones taking part in the training whiles the remaining 7 zones would be held next year.
Mr. Okyere Darko-Mensah, therefore indicated that, the Western Regional Coordinating Council ‘WRCC’ will together with Ghana Education Service ‘GES’, come out with modalities to imbibe entrepreneurial spirits in the school children right from the Basic to Secondary in order to prepare them for the world of work and also make them competitive even beyond the shores of Ghana.
