Former MP for Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency who is also the former Minister for Tourism, Lawyer Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi has commissioned three ultra-modern community centers at Aboso over the weekend.
The beneficial communities include Gyantekurom, Layout and Akutuase all are suburbs of Aboso in the Prestea Huni-Valley municipality of the Western region.
Speaking at a separate event to commission the project, the former legislature pledged her commitment and desire to improve the living conditions of the people within the constituency.
She reiterated her willingness to keep the promises made to them and work to ensure the NPP government led by Nana Akufo-Addo completes all the projects she initiated when she was the Member of Parliament.
She called on the entire constituents to support her developmental agenda to transform the place.
“I am a proud member of NPP and we believe that we have the best policies and programmes for the people even in this period of global economic downturn,” she said.
She revealed to implement other projects in the coming months as was requested by the chiefs of the people.
“Please don’t be deceived over the things my opponent is telling you, ignore them, they are trying deceive you and take credit of what I have done. If they really meant well for you, they can also start something in other communities to demonstrate their good intentions for you,” she stressed.
The projects were funded by the Wassa Hemaa Foundation, established by Mrs. Barbara Oteng Gyasi.
The 200-seater capacity community center was constructed by the former legislature to provide the beneficial communities a serene environment to host their social events including funerals.
The Wassa Hemaa Foundation aims at creating a platform which seeks to improve the living conditions of the people, empowering them economically, provide them with skill training, education, quality healthcare delivery among other things.
Since the establishment, the foundation has impacted in more than 2000 youth by given them skill training, educational scholarships and sporting opportunities.
She was given a rousing welcome by the people, praising her for delivering her promises made to them even when she was no longer the member of Parliament.
The Chief of Compound Kakraba, Nana Acheampong, who was thankful to the former MP and Minister for the kind gesture, promised to put the facility to good use.
He pledged to ensure regular maintenance to keep the facility in good shape and prevent it from becoming dilapidated.
