Green Ghana Day: Embrace the project and help it grow to address climate change issues – Nzema East MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Nzema East, Hon. Dorcas Elizabeth Amoah, has urged the people of Nzema East to embrace the Green Ghana Project and offer it the needed support to make it grow to address climate change issues in the country.

 

 

The MCE, as part of the exercise, led the assembly to plant some of the trees at Nsein cemetery road and Nsein SHS respectively to encourage the people of the municipality to also get involved in the exercise.

 

Hon. Dorcas Amoah said, it was very important and crucial for the country to embark on such exercise which aims at addressing issues relating to climate change and depletion of forest reserves. She said the exercise will also create a conducive and greener environment for the country.

 

She thanked President Akufo-Addo for initiative the project and making it a national policy to build a better environment for the people to expand their lifespan.

 

The MCE emphasized that man’s dependence on natural resources is remarkable, adding that it is something we cannot look down upon.

 

“Trees help us in many diverse ways and it does not only provide us with the air we breathe but also its aesthetic nature. When the last tree dies, the last man dies.”

Mr. Ernest Anthony Amoah, the Municipal NADMO Coordinator of Nzema East, also in an interview said, the assembly has made provision of wood boxes which will be used to cover the trees to prevent animals from destroying them.

 

He added that the importance of trees has the potential of enhancing the quality of air that a person breathes in a particular environment.
