Assembly members of Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipal Assembly was caged at the assembly’s conference hall after they have voted ‘NO’ against the president nominee, Victoria Adu as the new MCE.
It was alleged that the assembly members took ¢5,000 each from the nominee.
The assembly members were caged for close to 30 minutes before they were released to go out.
Out of the 26 members, 14 voted ‘Yes, 10 No and 2 ballots were rejected.
There was heat of argument which nearly resulted to a fight among the assembly members and some other persons.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, who expressed disappointment, indicated that the assembly will reconvene to organize another elections in the next 10 days.
