The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Sekondi Constituency, Lawyer Blay Nyameke Armah, has provided 5 kilograms bags of rice worth 500,000 Ghana cedis to the aged people in the Sekondi Constituency.
Lawyer Blay as popularly called during the presentation of the items to the beneficiaries, stated that it is always good to give back to society when you are blessed by God.
According to him, this support for the aged in the society, has been going on for the past three years and it will continue anytime the need arises. He added that “The aged are the vulnerable who need attention from the well-to-do in the society. Somebody need to care for them and he is very privilege to be there for them.” He further said “It is not that he has so much, but he always feel that the burden is laid on him by God to share with the aged what he has been blessed with during Christmas and Easter festivities.”
Lawyer Blay indicated that providing the needed care and support for the elderly in the society is the responsibility of all, and that such a move would enable them to have a prolong life and that the situation where the aged in the society are neglected and abandoned is very worrying and needed to be avoided.
He called on the philanthropists and the corporate entities to support the aged in the communities to put smiles on their faces.
He said, this activity is also to release some stress on the families of the aged and the people of Sekondi in these challenging times caused by Akufo-Addo-Bawumia’s government.
He stressed that there have been little efforts to put smiles on the old faces since the beginning of his effort to make the elderly happy, but was glad to have continued.
He pledged his commitment to continue to support the aged with whatever God will bless him with.
Lawyer Blay therefore urged the beneficiaries to have faith in God and also give him the mandate to become the Member of Parliament come 2024 elections as he always seek for the betterment of their lives.
The beneficiaries who were excited to the kind gesture could not hide their joy when they received the gifts.
They thanked him for coming to their aid in the festive season and embarking on the exercise to make them happy.
Some of the beneficiaries who were new to the donation, indicated that they had never seen such a blessing from anybody before and showered blessings on Lawyer Armah Blay with hood health and long life for caring for the aged every Christmas.
One of the beneficiaries expressed is excitement, adding that things would have been difficult this Christmas if Lawyer Blay had not come to their aid.
Another was much enthused and stated that it’s in the Bible that whoever remembers an aged with good intentions will be blessed abundantly.
They said “For the past three years, he has cared for them and they are very appreciative and so happy that at least somebody like Lawyer Blay is there for them. They prayed that God will continue to help him in all his endeavours. They prayed that his dream will surely come to pass.
“As we smile today, you will also smile a year today”, the beneficiaries said.
