NDC PC for Sekondi, Lawyer Blay begins disbursing interest-free loans to traders as promised

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Parliamentary Candidate for Sekondi, Lawyer Armah Blay Nyameke, has instituted a remarkable GHC 5 million interest-free loan scheme to the market women to lessen the financial difficulties the traders face n their businesses.
The first phase of the cash disbursement began on the Wednesday 25th of October, 2023, at Sekondi market.
Over 100 enthusiastic traders benefited from the interest-free loan, which became a reality through the partnership with a known reputable Bank.
The bank not only opened accounts for the traders but also provided essential training on managing the loan wisely.
Traders were organized into a 10-member group, each with a dedicated leader for a smooth distribution and repayment processes.
The beauty of this initiative is that the loan is designed to be repaid without any interest.
The traders could not be more grateful for this unprecedented support, viewing it as a lifeline for their businesses and a beacon of hope for them.
The second phase of the loan disbursement was equally heartwarming, on Saturday 28th October, 2023 at the lorry station with over 150 traders receiving their share.
Traders were astounded by the positive change this initiative has brought, especially considering the economic challenges they have endured over the past 27 years.
To date, more than 450 traders, have reaped the benefits of this interest-free loan. The target is to reach out to over 8000 traders within the Sekondi constituency.
Lawyer Armah Blay Nyameke, in an interview, shed light on the importance of this visionary loan scheme and spoke about the struggles the traders face when trying to secure loans from other banks due to high interest rates.

He noted that the scheme transcends political lines, showing his commitment to relieving the burdens of traders as well as helping to boost the local economy of Sekondi.
“My vision is to bring development to the bank people of Sekondi when elected as the MP come 2024, by focusing on trade, tourism, youth development and employment opportunities.
On the current state of Sekondi Market, Lawyer Blay bemoaned how deadly the market has become to the lives of the occupants.
He assured the market women that as a temporary measures, he will make everything financially possible to renovate part of the market which appears deadly and wait for John Dramani Mahama to assume his seat as the next President come 2025 and lobby him to refurbished the whole market.
“The current MP who doubles as the deputy Minister for Energy, Andrew Agyapa Mercer has taken the Sekondi constituents for granted and seems to careless about their socio-economic wellbeing and there is an urgent need for us a constituency to vote me into power as I have assured rigorous development to my constituents”, he stressed.
He also highlighted the importance of cushioning market women in their business
“Our mothers are our backbone so we have to help them fish for themselves rather than throwing cash in the air for them to catch, most banks give loans and take high interest which ends up collapsing the traders businesses. So I thought it wise to give out my money to them as loan without taking any interest to help them boost their businesses”, Lawyer Blay explained.
Miss. Juliet, the scheme’s consultant, passionately emphasized the need for continuous education and training to ensure the traders fully harness the benefits of the scheme.
The esteemed bank managers confirmed their partnership with Lawyer Armah Blay Nyameke Blay and underscored the urgency of supporting the financially challenged traders in the constituency.
The traders, in an overwhelming display of gratitude pledged their support for the NDC PC and assured him of their votes in the upcoming parliamentary elections on December 7, 2024.
According to them, they are fervently hoping and working for the election of Lawyer Blay as the next MP for Sekondi.
In the light of this, a remarkable group, aptly named Lawyers Ladies, has emerged to rally young women behind this noble cause.
Sekondi is experiencing a rebirth under the dynamic leadership of Lawyer Armah Blay Nyameke, the NDC Parliament Candidate, and the future MP for Sekondi Constituency.
He has assured that the loan scheme will remain easily accessible to all traders, emphasizing that the development of Sekondi is not just a political endeavor but a shared dream.
