The Parliamentary Candidate of National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Sekondi Constituency, Lawyer Blay Armah Nyameke has desilted the major storm drain on Ngyiramoabakam and Essaman in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis to curb perennial flooding which affects residents of the two communities annually.
The exercise which began early hours of Sunday, June 18, 2023, was aimed at ensuring free flow of water to avoid flooding following the raining season to save the lives of the people.
This, follows a request by the youth and some elders of the two communities to come to their aid and desilt the major drains that are chocked due to activities of indiscriminate dumping of refuse resulting in the growing of shrubs and various plants that block the free flow of water.
Lawyer Blay, as affectionately called, is hopeful that the desilting activities he organized in the two communities will prevent any flooding at the onset of the rain.
