Takoradi MP interacts with traders and market women at Takoradi Market Circle

The Member of Parliament for Takoradi who doubles as the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has interacted with the market women and other traders at Takoradi Market Circle and the New Market.
The interaction was to enable him familiarization himself with the activities of the traders and the market women.
It was also to encourage them in the midst of current economic challenges and assure them of the government’s commitment to fix the challenges which were brought upon the country by COVID-19 and the Russian-Ukraine war.
Mr. Okyere Darko-Mensah as part of the interaction visited Takoradi-Cape Coast station of the GPRTU, traders and market women at the new market.
The traders, in an engagement at separate locations, informed the MP of the problems they are facing, the most prominent were the difficulties in obtaining like and for their businesses from MASLOC, theft, among others.
Addressing the concerns raised by the traders and market women, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, assured the people that he will follow the loans issue up and ensure the concerns are addressed to enable them get the loans to grow their businesses.

He urged them to make sure they pay the loan when it is given them so that others could also benefit from the loan to boost their businesses.
With the issue of relocating the market women from Jubilee ground to the new market, the MP told the market women that those traders at the Jubilee market would be relocated to the new market very soon.
Mr. Okyere Darko-Mensah said, he recognized the role market women and traders play in the economic growth of a country.
He added that the government is concerned about their welfare, this is because they play a significant economic role in the local assemblies.
The market women contribute immensely to the socio-economic development of the area and beyond because many people from all walks of life in the country patronizes their goods; therefore, the government is much concern about their problems.

He promised that he was going to liaise with the assembly to fix the challenges in the market as early as possible.
