Kejetia Market fire outbreak: Traders stranded as market is closed

Traders at the Kejetia market are stranded after yesterday’s inferno.
The Management of Kumasi City Market Limited (KCML) says the Kejetia Market Complex will not open on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from morning until 12:00pm.
This comes on the back of a fire outbreak on the market that started later hours of afternoon Wednesday, March 15, 2023, which resulted in damage to some shops.
A source disclosed to Ghananest.com that about 35 shops were totally affected by the inferno, which started around 4pm yesterday.

Though the strength of inferno has drastically gone down but management of the market together with the Contracta company, firefighters and other concerned security agencies are still at the scene making sure that everything becomes okay.
Due to the current tragic state of the market, traders, consumers and head potters have since at dawn not been allowed entry into the market.
More to follow after the firefighters have briefed the media about the cause of the fire and the current state of the market….
