The criteria for the selection of the award winners were the years an agent had worked for MTN, the total number of quality customers an agent had registered, the volume and value of transactions, zero incidents of fraud recorded at an agent’s working location as well as customers’ feedback on transaction by agents.
The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Mobile Money Limited, Shaibu Haruna, speaking at the award ceremony indicated that the MTN Mobile Money Limited has 13.3 subscribers and this was achieved through the tireless efforts of mobile agents who travel throughout the country, growing the subscriber base.
According to him, this year’s awards ate more rewarding because of the unique challenges the industry encountered.
“It has been a challenging year with the introduction of E-levy, the challenges our customers have had with accessing their MoMo wallets during the sim barring exercise and also the challenging economic environment we find ourselves in, but our resilience as a people has enabled us to soldier on and today, we are here to celebrate our achievements and strategize for the next year.”
These issues, according to him, have put a lot of pressure on the entire business.
He added that the future for MoMo looks bright, despite the varying challenges the industry is faced with.
“It is particularly important that as partners in the business, we keep engaging and respecting the rules of engagement to succeed.”
“The issues of fraud prevention are particularly important in our operations and as partners, we continue to count on your support in educating customers and recording zero fraud cases in your operations.”
He urged the stakeholders to reflect on the successes and lessons and look ahead, taking into consideration the increasing opportunities mobile money presents to Ghana’s socio-economic development.
Mr. Haruna noted that the company is counting on the unwavering support of its stakeholders to continue building on the successes and strides the company have made in the coming years to make MTN MoMo the next preferred digital payment platform in Ghana.
